Selim Dentes
Selim Dentes was born in Istanbul in 1961. Educated in Istanbul, he went on to study at the city’s Boğaziçi University, graduating from the Electronic Engineering Department in the 1983 honours list, and in 1985 completed a Masters in Biomedical Engineering cum laude at the same university. In the meantime, he followed advanced Mathematics in the Faculty of Basic Sciences – Mathematical School.
He began his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry working in quality control, technical maintenance and R&D in various fields. He later moved into IT. Early on he set up his own customer service firm. Other experience in the IT sector has included technical consulting for Plug Compatible systems and Smart Devices as well as new product R&D, as well as work at various computing multinationals in various roles including Chief Sales Officer, Sales Manager and OEM Department Manager. Working in IT he acquired particular proficiency in building international relationships. He also acquired skills relevant to ISO 9001, quality assurance and auditing.
In 1999, he resumed working through his own firm. Initially, he offered training, consultancy and services to various companies. Later on, he offered consultancy and International ISO 9001 Lead Auditor services.
Meanwhile, he moved to Greece for family reasons. From that point on, since he also spoke Greek well, he started working as a certified sworn translator (certified by the Consulate General of Turkey in Thessaloniki) and as an interpreter certified by the Thessaloniki Courts, and also a member of the Panhellenic Association of Translators based in Greece, providing official translation and interpreting services in areas such as law, commerce, tourism, technical and aviation.
Today, he provides consultancy services for Turkish and Greek investors in the fields of business representation, business networking, B2B - B2G services, and strategic investments. If necessary, he accompanies businessmen and representatives from institutions from Turkey and Greece on their trips, provides all kinds of commercial, legal and court-related services that may be needed for one-to-one or collective meetings and negotiations; such as company formations, business meetings, congresses, seminars, dealer meetings, trade fairs, corporate events, official meetings and court proceedings.
He also acts as a go-between in the real estate market, since recently property prices in Greece have fallen sharply and the market has become very attractive due the establishment of a Golden Visa scheme for investors who buy properties over a certain price, and since the Republic of Greece offers other benefits to foreign investors from outside the EU who invest in the country.
During the Covid pandemic years, he decided to fresh his knowledge on Data Analysis and followed the Google Analytics program. Today his main interest shifts towards data analytics, since there is a big demand on the market.
Since 2004, he has lived in Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city. His main hobby is flying. He has held a European commercial pilot’s license since 1992. He still flies various types of aircraft today.
