At various times in the past in the face of political situations which emerged both in Turkey and Greece some Turkish citizens from the Greek minority in Turkey (known as Romios), immigrated to Greece and other countries around the world, and continued their lives there. Some of them lost their Turkish citizenship; others retained it.
However, during and after these migrations, those people were frequently no longer able to manage their real estate assets in Turkey, and many of them died later of old age. While some of the next generations have not cut ties with Turkey, some have not been able to go to back to Turkey due to challenges in their personal lives, and were not even able to get Turkish citizenship.
Frequently, those who migrated but faced difficulties, would tell their children about their lives in Turkey and their memories from there, and before their deaths, would leave information and documents about the real estate assets they had in Turkey.
Today, some of the second and third generation are returning to the places where their ancestors lived, and they wish to continue their lives there. Some, however, wish those properties to be transferred back into their names.
The Republic of Turkey protects the property rights of these citizens in relation to their real estate assets in Turkey, and returns them to those who are still alive or, if not, to members of the second or third generation, upon request and insofar as allowed by Turkish Laws. Moreover, if they so wish, Turkey also grants Turkish citizenship to people from those generations. How you go about asking for the return of these estates and properties is purely a legal matter and necessitates that all legal requirements are met. This time-consuming process requires teamwork.
We offer a wide range of legal services and, most importantly, coordination and consultancy services in relation to Turkish and Greek lawyers, courts, individuals and legal persons.
